Varnish and lamination are two special finishes you can choose to enhance and protect your product.
Varnish is thin liquid coat applied directly to the printed label or sticker. Varnish offers a moderate level of protection against wear and tear. It is mainly used for aesthetic reasons though as it provides either a glossy or matte finish. Varnish can be applied to the entire label or we also offer spot raised varnish which is applied only to selected areas of the label or sticker creating a stunning visual and tactile effect which is often used over lettering.
Lamination on the other hand involves placing a clear film over the entire label or sticker. It offers a greater degree of protection than varnish and allows the label or sticker to maintain its appearance over time by safeguarding against moisture, mild chemicals and general wear and tear. It is worth considering for products which will be placed in high traffic areas such as shop aisles, products within certain industries such as the cosmetics industry which may entail exposure to mild chemicals, or products which require refrigeration. For high end products of any kind we would often recommend polypropylene with lamination but this may vary depending on the look you want to achieve.
