Swing Tag Versatility

Wednesday, May 13, 2020

Swing tags are simple in concept yet highly effective. They provide great utility - they are functional in their core purpose of providing information to the consumer but they are also an opportunity to promote your brand through an aesthetic design. From quirky and fun, to sleek and professional, a well designed and professionally printed swing tag is a versatile marketing tool.

In order to maximise branding potential, your swing tag should include your logo, your web address and other relevant brand information. Additionally, you can include informative details such as price, size, ingredients, instructions, and so on.

Swing tags are also a great way to highlight items on sale or items with special features. They can be very eyecatching and will help to grab the attention of the browsing customer.

And if you offer a gift wrapping service, or if you wrap up purchases as standard, a swing tag will add an elegant finishing touch to your parcel.

How you attach your swing tags to your products will depend on the product itself, as well as the intended use. If security is important, then unbreakable nylon loops are often the go to choice. They can be applied by hand or using fastener tag gun. Don't forget to consider your brand ethos when choosing fasteners. Nylon does the job but you can say so much more if it suits your brand - think twine or natural cotton string for an eco or rustic brand, or pretty ribbons for a boutique.

Swing tags can be made in any size and shape, and made from a whole host of different materials and finishes. You should select a card stock of 300gsm or higher, with super luxe heavy tags going up to 650gsm or higher. When selecting a card type, consider firstly whether the tag will be written on. If your tag needs to accept pen or pencil, then an uncoated card stock is best. Silk card will accept some pen types if necessary. In choosing a finish (such as matt, gloss or soft touch lamination, spot uv varnishing, embossing or foiling for example), that will come down to style and taste - although of course lamination has a functional consideration too as it provides durability and protection to the print.

On the functional side, swing tags can be printed on both sides or can even be created in concertina or booklet form to hold as much information as is required. They can be used where adhesive labels are not suitable and they provide security as they cannot be removed easily.
